A common mistake with people making a website for the first time is that the internet and more importantly the search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc… will know that you made a site today. Well, if it were that easy, then everybody would be doing it. I am not going to lie to you, having an online business can be fun…. but it is also time consuming and very hard and tedious work.
There is no specific formula that search engines use in order to find and rank your site, but over the years, people have found and developed formulas that seem to work better than others. The one thing I was taught and seems to work for me involves a couple of different things.
First off is finding a niche that is in demand, but doesn’t have too much competition so that you actually have a fighting chance. For instance, it would not be advised to start an e-bay store site selling Apple I-phones since there are a gazillion sites already out there and you would be hard pressed to rank in the top 100 for that niche.
After you find a niche, you need to find out what keywords are being searched for that niche and focus on those keywords. I try to use 5-7% keyword saturation when I write an article. So that means for every 500 word article, I will have my keyword appear 25-30 times. The reason keyword appearance is important is for this reason…. If it doesn’t show up enough, then you won’t be picked up by the search engines. On the other hand, if it appears too much and you over saturate your article with your keyword(s), then they will see your site as a spam site and you will be discarded to put it lightly.
As I said before, this isn’t an exact formula to get ranked well on the major search engines, but it works for me and it should work for you as well.

There are many ways you can design your website and many different platforms you can use. Cronier Online Marketing uses Wordpress exclusively for all it’s sites. Wordpress is a very universal web platform and can not only be used to make a blog type site, but can also be used to make a e-bay store as well. I also like Wordpress because it is free, has a SEO plugin that you can download, and has tons of other plug-ins, widgits and themes that you can use to help make a very nice web site.
